Parade & Float Competition

Join us and register your organization's float in the homecoming parade, occurring Saturday, September 23, at 1:30 pm. This year we will be putting a little spin to our traditional parade! We will be providing 20 golf carts on a first come, first serve basis and we will be taking both walking entries and golf cart entries.

Registering Your Organization's Float

To register your organization's float, please complete the Homecoming and Family Weekend 2017 Homecoming Parade Float Entry Form. The deadline for parade entries is Wednesday, September 20, 2017 by 5:00 PM.

As you complete the form, please pay attention to all content as rules, line up times, prize categories, golf cart decorating party information and safety information will be communicated to you through this form. Parade entries are only accepted via this online form.

All drivers MUST attend a MANDATORY Safety Training on Friday Sept, 22nd, between 4:30pm - 6:30pm.

Golf Cart Decorating Party

This year to go along with our exciting change to a golf cart parade, we will be hosting a golf cart decorating party on Friday, September 22, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. We will be providing limited supplies - feel free to bring your own to give your cart some Bulldog spirit! This will be the only opportunity for your organization to decorate your golf cart. If you do not attend your golf cart will be given to the next organization on the wait list.

Why Decorate?

Your float will be judged on the three categories listed below. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall finishers will be recognized! Each category will be scored on a 1 to 10 scale with 10 being the highest possible score for each category:

  • Originality and Creativity
  • School Spirit, including enthusiasm and UNC Asheville pride
  • Craftsmanship and Attractiveness, including design, appearance and presentation

In addition to decorating, you are welcome to perform a skit for our panel of judges! There will be a three person judging panel towards the end of the parade route.  While at the judges table you will have the opportunity to perform a skit, no longer than ONE MINUTE, to highlight your float and group as a whole. In addition, you have the opportunity to have music played on the PA Speakers during your group's performance.

The Route

Our parade route will begin at P24 and continue along University Heights, passing Brown Hall, Highsmith Student Union, Governors Hall, and more! The parade will conclude at P15, right next to where you can join the Tailgating festivities at P16! Line up will begin at 12:30PM and all participants must be in line by 1:15PM.

If you have questions please contact Blair Jenkins or Cate O'Connor.
